Colt has developed a comprehensive e-learning course to raise its staff’s awareness of Health and Safety issues and promote good practices throughout the company. The course uses scenarios of real incidents to cover slips and trips, manual handling, fire awareness, safe workstations, and the dangers associated with work-related travelling and working on construction sites. It identifies the main hazards in the various environments Colt staff may encounter in their working day – whether they be offices, factories or customers’ construction sites – and indicates preventative actions. Interactive hazard identification exercises serve to reinforce key messages.
“In an industry such as the one we operate in, Health and Safety is of paramount importance,” says Simon O’Hea, Director of Training and Information Management. “Colt has an outstanding record in health and safety at work – for instance we have just won the 9th consecutive RoSPA Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety in the UK – but we are not complacent. This course is just one of many initiatives to maintain a safe working environment for our people. It is mandatory for all our staff worldwide and will also be available to our partners, distributors, suppliers and sub-contractors.”
The course is available in English, German and Dutch. Following its launch the majority of Colt’s workforce has already completed it within the first few weeks.
